Hey folks!
While my innards may be recovering from the holiday abuse I’ve forced upon myself, I’ve got some exciting news about The Witch-Doctor, and some updates.
In the next month or so, I’m going to release an extra-length introductory episode for The Witch-Doctor.
(Details below.)
As you know, I’ve been working on a rewrite. I’ve talked about my map-making and notebook keeping, but I haven’t given very much information about the project and its progress.
Much like the initial stages of the podcast, I’m starting to learn just how little I know about the process of editing and rewriting a novel-length written work. I’ve spent the last few weeks reading up on editing, specifically the two books “The Artful Edit” and “On Writing Well“. The first deals primarily in fiction while the second addresses non-fiction.
In addition, I’ve been listening to audio courses I found in ‘The Great Courses” section of Audible. Specifically, “Writing Great Fiction: Storytelling Tips and Techniques” and “English Grammar Boot Camp“, both of which are extremely engaging and informative.
I’ve definitely been putting in the work, it’s just not very glamorous.
As much as I love research and reading, my typing fingers are getting itchy.
Within the next month or so I hope to have an extra long, never-before-heard introductory episode available to you all.
You see, the rewrite and rerecording process isn’t simply prettying up the old episodes. There are also going to be cuts and major additions, a refining of the story already told.
You folks are witnessing an in-production creative endeavor!
This introductory episode is going to serve as a springboard with which to kick the podcast off, and a way to show you folks exactly what I mean when I say I am going to ramp up the quality.
The brand new introduction will be between an hour and an hour-and-a-half long.
The only other thing I’ll tell you for now is it will take place chronologically a day before the original introduction.
Other than that, I’ve got my lips zipped!
